Description of Project:
Eastwood Elementary School is a new K-5 elementary school in Morgantown WV established through consolidation of Easton and Woodburn Elementary Schools. The project, funded jointly by Monongalia County Schools and the School Building Authority of WV in the spring of 2010, received LEED Gold Certification in 2015.
The building includes numerous energy saving features including:
• Daylighting - building orientation for maximum daylight,with light shelves and sunshades, and daylight sensors on artificial lighting.
• Water Usage - waterless urinals and kitchen processwater reduction.
• Energy Usage - Insulated Concrete Form (ICF) wall system and geothermal HVAC system.
• Green Cleaning Program
• School as a Teaching Tool as an innovation credit.
